“If you want to play... you have to pay.” I’m sure that you’ve heard it before. I heard when I entered the life insurance business while in college the most important sales tip, "See the people." Nothing happens unless you can see the people.

I also remember hearing Benjamin "Woody" Woodson, CLU speak about the best investment we can make... which is in ourselves. For successful people in the financial services business, it would be hard to match the return on investment that we get investing in our own business. Where am I going with this? Well, here we go…
 
This is a tougher business today. It isn’t tougher because of competition, as the ranks in the financial services industry are shrinking. We also have a public that needs the products we offer, making too many buyers and too few advisors available to them.

I say it is tougher because the marketing has changed. The yellow pages ad, cutting announcements out of the paper, and sending congratulation letters just don't seem to work as well. The biggest reason is that we have a rough time contacting people by phone. People are busy, informed, inquisitive, wary and desirous for the best product at the lowest cost. Does all of this sound familiar? 

So, many of us need to re-think and re-brand. We need to reassess what we want out of this business. Revise what our business plan and marketing plan should be. Re-think where we are spending our business capital. For most, it’s time to re-brand. This is where you may need some help.
